LMFAO Cancels Beirut Gig
2U2C this October 1st 2011 “WAS” producing “LMFAO”, “LMFAO” held the number 1 spot in the USA with their famous summer hit “Party Rock Anthem” in 18 countries.
They featured in the top music charts in Canada, France, Germany, UK, USA and of course LEBANON.We say “WAS” because this event has been cancelled due to the thoughtless actions of some Lebanese fanatic extremists. Yes, Lebanese Fanatic EXTREMISTS! Now, “LMFAO” have labeled Lebanon as a home for fanatic extremism, not in politics, BUT in music preferences.
“LMFAO” have canceled their event in Lebanon following threats they received from some fanatical Christians who seem to think that their extremism is the voice of Jesus.These fanatics claimed that they felt bent to take such extreme measures because one of the band’s the videos featured a man dancing while dressed like Jesus.
LMFAO management observed the facebook page the extremists had opened, and were left with no choice but to cancel the event, fearing for the band members’ lives. It was yet another performance to be cancelled in our great “Beirut City” was canceled. The band will however be performing in Dubai.
The story of these mindless acts of radicalism in Lebanon started long before “LMFAO” were scheduled to appear on a Beirut stage...
Last year, in 2010 when “Placebo” where on their WORLD TOUR, Beirut was on their schedule. PRO-Palestine Muslim Fanatics threatened and tried to cancel the concert… Placebo however did make it to Beirut for the concert, but many Lebanese fans feared to attend.
Why you ask? It seems that while touring the globe to perform for their fans, they once held a show in Israel. This of course gave the fanatics the right to believe that they are entitled to threaten the safety of the group and the fans. The Lebanese fans.
In 2009, Christian extremists wanted to stop a Rock Festival featuring world famous bands from entering and performing in Lebanon because the songs they performed were “offensive”.
In 2008, Muslim fanatics STOPPED “Gad El Maleh” (world famous French comedian) from performing in Lebanon.
The list goes on and on…
Extremism is blind…
Extremism has no religion…
WHEN WILL IT STOP?
If you don’t want to attend, DON’T…but do not use threats and stand in the way of others that want to attend! By what right do you create fear and keep people from coming into our country?
We are full supporters of the Freedom of Speech and Expression!
BUT an individual’s freedom must stop when it infringes on the rights of others!
Making threats is no expression of freedom! It is a cowardly expression of hatred and social mindlessness!
What freedom do we really have if extremist groups using threats of violence can stop concerts from happening, music, videos, and movies from being broadcasted, and books from being published or sold?
What the fanatics don’t realize is not only are they adding another scar to Lebanon’s image to the outside world, they are hurting a Lebanese production company that invests time and money for months and sometimes years to make these events happen. They also don’t realize how a minimum of 20 Lebanese companies, with hundreds of employees, involved in these events become paralyzed.
It’s not enough that the 30+ year-old traveling warning to Lebanon has never been removed!
It’s not enough that the Lebanese live in constant stress everyday of their life!
Now, even the source of entertainment has been targeted!
